World Music Day

June 21 is celebrated across the world as Music Day to celebrate music and musicians. Due to Covid-19, this year, the day will be celebrated indoors. Like Yoga, music is considered to act as a therapy and helps lower stress, treats mental health issues and helps in treating sleep disorders. World Music Day started in 1982 in France as ‘Fete de la Musique’, a music festival. The man behind it was the then French Minister of Culture Jack Lang. It soon spread worldwide, and people in every country celebrate music in their unique way.

World Refugee is held every year on June 20. It aims to raise awareness on the state of refugees in the world who have been forced to leave their homes due to war, terror, or violence. Music composer and singer Wajid Khan of Saji-Wajid duo passed away in Mumbai in the early hours on June 1. The cause of death is not known yet.
