
It is that time of the year again when floods wreak havoc in Assam leaving lakhs marooned and many dead. Five persons have already lost their lives, and over 3 lakh people have been severely affected so far. It has inundated nine districts until the news last came in. More than 21,000 people have taken refuge n relief camps. Goalpara is the worst-hit region with 1.96 lakh people displaced. National and state disaster response force has rescued close to 3,000 persons.
Amidst lockdown imposed due to corona epidemic, many people from the north-east region are returning to their respective homes via special trains arranged by the Ministry of Railways. Twitter shared how many passengers on the train from Bengaluru to Mizoram helped flood victims with food and water to those affected by floods.
